ERM CVS to Conduct On-site IRMA/Copper Mark Audit of Anglo American’s Quellaveco
[From IRMA approved auditor ERM CVS]
ERM CVS Seeks Input from Local Community and Other Stakeholders
Today, 5 September 2025, ERM CVS announces that on 27–31 October 2025, auditors will visit the Anglo American Quellaveco mining operation, located in the Moquegua Region, Peru to conduct an onsite assessment of the operation against the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) Standard and The Copper Mark Risk Readiness Assessment. ERM CVS is an independent, third-party audit firm approved by IRMA and Copper Mark to carry out assessment activities.
During the onsite visit, independent auditors from ERM CVS will inspect the operation and associated facilities and collect feedback from local stakeholders – anyone directly or indirectly affected by the mine including community members, mine workers, and government officials. As part of this combined assessment, stakeholders are invited to share relevant information directly with the assessor.
When the audit is finished two reports will be prepared that present how the site scored against the criteria for each standard:
- An IRMA public audit report will be released locally and published on the IRMA audit page.
- A Copper Mark public report will be published on The Copper Mark website.
Anglo American Quellaveco can use this audit information to improve its practices. Other stakeholders, particularly affected communities and mine workers, may use the audit reports to engage with the mine and others on a more equal footing to improve the operation in the ways that matter most to them.
27-31 October 2025 Your comments will help independent auditors from ERM CVS assess the impact of Anglo American Quellaveco operation on local communities and measure its performance against best mining practices. ERM CVS invites you to sign-up for an interview with auditors during the onsite visits, and/or submit written comments to ERM CVS about the mine. Use the contact information below to request an interview or submit comments. Interviews can be held in English or Spanish. In-person interview requests should be made by 20 October 2025. Written feedback and comments submitted to ERM CVS until 30 October 2025 will be considered included in the audit. |
