IRMA auditor training is designed to familiarize individual auditors with IRMA’s mission, how IRMA audits are conducted, and a general overview of the IRMA Standard which reflects the criteria for IRMA audits.
Who should take the training:
Anyone acting as an auditor for the IRMA independent assurance process must attend IRMA auditor training and successfully pass a written exam.
IRMA invites other members of an approved audit firm’s team to attend training, particularly where in-depth understanding of the IRMA process and standard will support a well-managed program.
Training requirements:
- Individual auditors must be sponsored by an approved IRMA audit firm, or otherwise approved by IRMA.
- Auditors must attend all (virtual) sessions in the training course.
- Auditors must score at least 75% on the final exam to become an approved auditor.
IRMA Auditor Training Objectives
Session 1:
IRMA Background, Theory of Change, and Overview
Attendees should finish the session with an understanding of IRMA’s purpose and mission, the basis and structure of the IRMA Standard, and the objectives and general elements of the IRMA assurance process.
Session 2:
Implementing the Assurance Process
Attendees should finish the session with a more detailed understanding of the assurance process at each stage including planning, audit stages, and reporting.
Session 3:
Technical Interpretation of the IRMA Standard
Attendees should finish the session with a detailed understanding of the intent and interpretation of the 2018 IRMA Standard for Responsible Mining.
