The site is operated by Kamativi Mining Company (KMC), a joint venture between Sichuan PD Technology Group (85%) and Denfold Mine (Private) Limited (15%). Production of spodumene (lithium-bearing ore) began in 2024. Under different ownership the site produced tin, niobium and tantalum from 1936 until 1994. The mine employs approximately 785 people and spans approximately 500 hectares within the site boundary. Approximately 6,000 people in three communities live near the operation.
