The Greenbushes Lithium Operation employs more than 1,500 people (not including construction contractors) with the Mine Development Envelope covering an area of 2,207 hectares. The town of Greenbushes is located north of and adjacent to the Greenbushes Lithium Operation. The operation has been producing lithium mineral concentrates since 1983, with the current ownership structure in place since 2021. Mining has occurred at the site since 1888, having originally been established for tin production, and more recently tantalum and lithium.
The assessment will include an open pit, four processing facilities (Technical Grade Plant, Chemical Grade Plant 1, Chemical Grade Plant 2, Tailings Retreatment Plant, and associated crushers), tailings storage facilities, water dams, waste rock storage area, and associated supporting facilities and services. During the assessment the impacts and issues associated with the site will be reviewed, and each facility will be visited.
Talison suggests the IRMA Standard chapters below are not relevant. The audit firm will review those suggestions and make a determination.
